Hout Bay is a small coastal town about 20 minutes from Cape Town, known for its busy fishing harbour and impressive mountain backdrop. In Dutch Hout Bay translates to 'Wood Bay', named after the dense forests that once covered these mountains. The surrounding waters are wildlife rich with dolphins, whales, seals and seabirds regularly spotted offshore
We’ve created two versions of our Hout Bay poster - a daytime scene and a sunset scene. Both are illustrated from a viewpoint on the opposite side of the bay, which offers the best angle to see the famous slanting Hout Bay rock. Nearby we have three dassies (rock hyraxes), a common sight around the mountains in this area sit among a cluster of pincushion proteas.
The man behind our Roam posters, Richard is a self-taught South African digital artist and illustrator. He brings his distinctive style to Roam, where his incredible talent is on show in the creation of our unique and trendy designs. Every one of our posters is individually created by Richard after discussing the brief with us, and zero AI is ever used!

You can order your Roam print unframed or ready to hang, with a selection of beautiful framing options to choose from.
All of our framing is done in-house by our team, allowing us to make sure each piece is carefully finished and ready for its new home.
Our frame options include:
- Black or White Wood – A modern wooden box frame, available in a classic black stain or crisp painted white finish. 10mm wide × 22mm deep.
- Kiaat – A beautiful natural wood with warm, light-brown tones and a distinctive grain. 10mm wide × 22mm deep.
- Obeche – A lighter natural wood with a soft, bright finish that works beautifully in relaxed, contemporary spaces. 10mm wide × 22mm deep.
As each framed poster is prepared especially for your order, framing does take a little longer. Please allow approximately 3–5 working days for framed orders to be completed before dispatch.
All orders are processed within 24 hours. It will take 2-4 business days for your order to arrive at your door anywhere in South Africa. If you stay in Cape Town your order should arrive the next day.
If you order your poster framed shipping will take 5-7 business days.
